Focusing on the Future

Lithia Springs, GA - July 7, 2021 – Gifford Pace – With 14 months in our new headquarters and warehouse, as well as half of 2021 under our belts, FSI continues to make improvements to better serve our customers today and in the future.  These include taking care of our employees, who we consider are an extension of each of our client’s businesses, and physical improvements in the warehouse. 

Having the facilities ready to receive, store, and process inventory is crucial, but the importance of our employees was highlighted even more during the pandemic.  “FSI was an essential business, so we didn’t have to shut our doors like so many other businesses in the area,” says Forrest Marbutt, Vice President and General Manager.  “With the national situation changing regarding COVID stimulus and unemployment benefits, we felt it was a good time to raise the minimum wage for our full-time workers to $15.00 per hour.” 

The physical changes in the warehouse include increasing our racking by 30% between October 2020 and June 2021.  This amounted to over approximately 22,500 new rack locations.  Add that to the fact that when FSI added 23 tuggers, 30 carts, 5 pallet jacks, 9 cherry pickers to our equipment fleet and you have a considerable investment. We also added 10 huge ceiling fans, 8 pack/ship stations, and a monitor to see production statistics.  “With the increase in e-commerce business resulting from the pandemic, we wanted to more effectively use the space we have,” stated Chuck Slappey, Director of Operations.  “Adding racking and equipment is a natural progression along with adding more packing and shipping stations to accommodate the increased business.”
