FSI Employee Rewarded for Continuous Improvement

  

Lithia Springs, GA – February 3, 2022 – Forrest Marbutt - Continuous Improvement is one of the pillars of FSI’s way of business.  As good as we feel like we are today at pick/pack/ship, order fulfillment, kit packing, etc., we understand that there is always room for improvement, and things always change.  We have a mindset to constantly be striving to be better in all that we do, and we’re always trying to plan ahead for changes in our industry.  We have to continue to gain efficiencies getting your pick/pack/ship orders and kit packing projects turned around faster and faster. 

One of the ways FSI’s achieves that through our employees is an internal program called Ideas for Cash.  Basically, we incentivize all of our employees in every department to submit their ideas for improvement, and we pay them cash for doing so.  They are the ones who are in the trenches doing the work, so they see firsthand what could be done better.  It’s a way to also let them know that we value their opinions, and we couldn’t improve as much without their feedback.  Most of them would do it on their own without the incentive, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to provide a financial reward for them along the way.  In addition to cash, we award employees time off for winning quarterly and other prizes just for participating.  We announce our winners at company meetings, then we also award an Idea of the Year winner with a trophy, recognition and even more cash.

2021’s Idea of the Year award winner was Danny Myers from our warehouse team.  Danny is one of our top reach lift drivers, and he had some ideas about improving our inventory flow for some similar SKU’s.  It proved to have some measurable gains in travel time for receiving, order fulfillment and replenishment.  Thank you Danny, and keep up the great work!

Danny gets his name added to the list of annual Idea of the Year Award winners that has been displayed in our lobby for the last 18 years.
