We are firm believers in celebrating our wins together. One of our most recent wins had us celebrating by bringing in an omelet bar. That’s right, a personal chef to make omelets for everyone along with other breakfast items. Grits, potatoes, etc. And lots of bacon!
Our reason for celebrating this time was that our inventory team recently had a 100% inventory count for one of our largest clients. This particular client measures us by bin accuracy, and they have close to 9,000 bins and around half a million pieces. Every time we have an inventory count, our team does outstanding each time. However, we still continue to challenge them to get even better each count. And this time they sure showed us what they are capable of. They already have financial bonuses in place for achieving various metrics, and I’ll gladly reward them a little extra for being perfect.
The breakfast fans at home are probably wondering why there was such an emphasis on bacon for this celebration. The answer is that the Director for this department is nicknamed “Bacon”, and each time there is a record broken on one of our various metrics, we try to find a new ways to celebrate by way of bacon. We started out by bringing in bacon from local restaurants to meetings. After a while of doing the same thing each time (since they kept breaking records), we started looking for new ways to celebrate with bacon. We’ve had a bacon bouquet delivered. We’ve set up memberships with a Bacon of the Month Club. We’ve taken the team out to eat at Brazilian steakhouse with all you eat meat selections (which included bacon, of course). I’ve even cooked bacon for the crew personally in the parking lot camping style. So when it came time to celebrate the near impossible feat of a perfect inventory, we had to step up the celebration.
It was a fun event that everyone got to celebrate in even if they had nothing to do with this particular inventory count. We’re all a team, and we’ll celebrate our wins together. I am looking forward to the team breaking new records and us needing to find new ways to celebrate.
